Get ready for Amazon Prime Days now for great price reductions!

Amazon Prime Days are 11th July and 12th July but you should get ready for them now.

First, you need to be an Amazon Prime member, but if you are not already a member, then take out a free month's subscription now (you can always cancel at the end of the month if you want to - but free delivery and Amazon Prime Video alone are worth the subscription for me!).

Next, get some items into your shopping basket now.

Here are some ideas (most links below are Amazon affiliate links which may earn me a few pennies but cost you nothing):

SSD drives

Samsung SSD

First, if you still have a PC or notebook which is using a spinning rust hard disk instead of a modern Solid State Drive (SSD which has super-fast flash memory) then buying replacement SSD's should be your first priority. Even really slow and old notebooks will become x5 to x10 times 'faster' when fitted with an SSD drive. If it has 6GB or more of RAM memory then install Windows 10 64-bit, otherwise install Windows 32-bit or even a Linux distro such as Ubuntu or Zorin.

Fire TV stick

If you have a TV that is not very new, you can just plug a Fire TV stick into its HDMI socket and watch Amazon Prime, Netflix and most other streaming services. It also integrates with Amazon Echo/Alexa, so just say 'Alexa, turn on TV1' and your TV will turn on. Or say 'Alexa, play Netflix' and the TV will turn on and show the Netflix. Or say 'Alexa, play <movie title> on Fire TV' to start watching a movie. More commands here.

Tablet + magazine/newspaper subscriptions

If you subscribe to several magazines, newspapers or periodicals, then why not cancel them all and simply subscribe to Readly (use this link to get 1 month free).

Then you can read thousands of them on your tablet! I recommend an 8" or 10" tablet.

Not only does it save trees, but it saves you money too.

Amazon Echo, Echo dot+clock or Echo Show

Smart, small, great sound and displays the time too! Great for the kitchen (displays countdown timer if you start one) or the bedroom too.

For the kitchen (to display recipes) or living room, how about an Echo Show?

Not only are these great for video calls and your Ring doorbell, but if you have an ageing relative, you can set one up in their home too and then 'drop in' on them any time. i.e. Just say 'drop in on Mum' and see if she is OK without her even needing to answer your call.

Refurbed stock and 'Todays deals'

You can buy cheaper versions by going for 'refurbed' stock (called 'Renewed' and has a year guarantee). For instance, you could get an Apple iPhone 12 for half the price of a new one.

Also check the 'Todays deals' pages too.

Just Browse!

Now browse around and add stuff to your basket. Amazon will notify you of any price change and when the Sale starts you can be ready to pounce on a bargain.

Shop around

Although Amazon have a great returns policy and you have free delivery costs if you are with Amazon Prime (even if just for the months free trial period), you may find that same or similar product elsewhere, so have a 'Google' for the product first before pressing that tempting Amazon 'Buy Now' button!
