Trading 212 update 2026-01-16 + tips

Another good week and I am at an all-time high :-) Over my two accounts (£130k mainly DCA deposits, I am up £26k in 12 months = 20% unrealised gain).

I don't expect this to last however and still have £6k of cash ready for when the correction comes!

T212 Invest (£110k Deposit - 72% IRR)

This was up £2.6k (2%) over the week.

The only thing I did in this account last week was to buy approx £600 more of Netflix as the price had dipped and people are beginning to think that Netflix is now undervalued - even the most bearish forecast shows a 20% share price gain by the end of 2026 and if the WBD buyout goes ahead and their new ad revenue scheme continues to increase profit, Netflix may show a 50% gain this year.

The price is mainly down because they did not hit expected targets in Q3, but they should now be more profitable than ever and pick up even more subscribers if they buy WBD.

Q1 2025: ~310 million subscribers
Q2 2025: ~312.5 million subscribers
Q3 2025: ~301.6 million subscribers
Q4 2025 est.: ~320 million subscribers (projected based on growth momentum)

T212 ISA Account (£20k - 32% IRR)

This ISA account, opened in April 2025, gained 2.8% over the week.

I sold my EQQQ for 0 profit and I also bought/topped up Equinox Gold, Global X Silver Miners, Global X Copper Miners, Coeur Mining, Pan American Silver, Eli Lily and AirShip AI Holdings.

AirShip sharp rise on Thursday and Friday

AMD went up 14% too and I am actually in profit on AMD :-)

Tips

AirShip AI may continue to rise (I have set a stop loss) and I may buy more - as I don't know much about them, I am just looking for a quick profit on a small bet.

I bought a 'test' amount of Applied Materials and this seems to be doing well...

It has almost doubled in the last 6 months.
AMAT have a significant rise in their order book for H2 2026 including NAND flash upgrades to factories.

LAM Research are a similar US company also with good prospects for 2026. Their share price is up 44% in the last month.

LAM is a higher-risk, higher-reward play compared to AMAT.

Both may be subject to tariff and export restrictions however and so there is a certain element of volatility, however there is a shortage of DRAM and flash memory at the moment and an ongoing need for data centres and AI. So these might be ones to hold until late 2026 and then take profit.

This is not financial advice - please do your own research first before investing your own money! My ISA account is my 'play' account where I take risks because I have other larger accounts for more sensible (less volatile/risky) investments!
