I think Tech is going to be very 'wobbly' and volatile next year. My current portfolio is Tech heavy at the moment but I am now interested in buying more commodity stocks.
My plan for 2026
I will wait for the market to recover from the current dip, and then look at selling some of my Tech stocks and buy commodities.
I am currently researching which shares to buy, but I will mainly be looking at buying sector ETFs.
Looking ahead for the next two years, these are the themes I am interested in holding (current holdings in parentheses)...
- Nuclear and Uranium (LEU, Aduro, OKLO, NCLP, NUCG, LTBR, UUUU, SMR,NNE, CCJ, LTBR)
- Gold (AUCP, LUG, GGP)
- Silver (3SLV, SILG)
- Copper (COPX, GGP)
- Aluminium
- Energy, Oil and Gas (Solaris)
Oil and gas ETFs may be worth holding and I may buy in when the price hits a dip, e.g. WENS in my GIA and hold for a few years. The need for more energy, in the next few years, will be much greater and cannot be filled quickly enough by nuclear.
Value stocks have done well recently, e.g. XDEV (+22% in last 6 months)
As this includes oil companies, XDEV may be a safer ETF to hold, since April 2025 it has outperformed the Global MSCI index SWDA.
The Metals and Mining ETF GIGB has gained 51% in the last 6 months and holds all the big miners. This might be a safer horse to back in 2026 instead of directly investing in copper or aluminium companies.
I will also be looking at Clive Thompson's videos this month when he will give his picks for 2026.
